The league format is teams of three mixed triples playing at 2.00pm on a Thursday afternoon, outdoors during the summer season during the months from May to August/September. Each triple must have at least one lady and one gentleman playing on each rink.
There are 32 teams playing in the league which is divided into four geographical areas/divisions - Central, Eastern, Southern and Western. With eight teams in each division, the teams play a total of fourteen matches, home and away. 7 points are available for each match, points being allocated as follows: 2 points for a winning rink, 1 point for a drawn rink, overall shots scored - 1 point for the winning side, half a point for a draw.
After the conclusion of the fourteen matches, the top two teams in each division will qualify for the play-off stage for the Stan Hardman Shield. This takes the format of a 'knock out stage' over three weeks with the division winners playing the runner-up in another division in the quarter final, winners progressing through to the semi-final and the winners of these games going through to the final.
In this play-off stage there is a slight change to the rules whereby each team is required to play at least one player of each gender at lead, two and skip in separate triples.
